Whilst testing out the new BBC iPlayer on the Nintendo Wii we all decided to give Doctor Who episode “Dreamland” a go and what fun it was.

Dreamland was originally available in 6 episodes of short animated adventures for Doctor Who, featuring David Tennant in the key role, as he drops into 1950’s America for a bowl of chilli in an off the beaten track American Diner. Dreamland, the full story (all 6 episodes) is currently available on the BBC iPlayer in the CBBC channel alongside episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures.

Featuring voice talents of David Warner, Georgia Moffett (not as the Doctor’s Daughter from the TV series), Tim Howar, and Lisa Bowerman, amongst others – including of course David Tennant, Dreamland explores the Area 51 1947 Roswell mystery with the Doctor at the centre of the action and includes the well recognised aliens known as “The Greys”, the Men In Black, an alien species known as the Viperox and the US Military. The Sonic Screwdriver gets a good outing too.

The CGI/Animation takes a minute or two to fall into place, especially with the lack of Tennants well known facial expressions, but then you almost forget you are watching animation as David Tennant takes the reigns and moves us through this fast paced and fun story which runs for around 45 minutes.

He never does get his bowl of chilli.
