Electric Dreams Coming Soon

BBC Four, as part of the IT And Us, season planned for late 2009 will feature three one hour episodes of a retro technology experiment called “Electric Dreams” which will focus on one family and see how they deal with life without modern conveniences such as Facebook and the Wii.

The series will see the world of one ordinary British family turned upside-down as their home is “renovated” to the standard of a typical house in 1970 – the dawn of the digital age – and then fast-forwarded at the rate of a day per year through the technological revolution of the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties.

Produced jointly by Wall to Wall and the Open University It sounds like a fascinating experiment to offer a unique insight into how our lives have been impacted by technology. Many of the things we take for granted today including satellite television, telephony, radio, gaming, socialising and home life have all been enhanced by the implementation of new technology.
