Guild Wars: Choosing Your Character

When it comes to playing Guild Wars, one of the first and most important decisions you can make is in choosing your character. This is the character that will represent you in the world of Guild Wars and which class you choose will determine the abilities you get and what role you will play within the game.

The different Guild Wars characters or classes that you have to choose from will also depend on the version of Guild Wars that you have. Core Guild Wars players can choose from:

• Warrior
• Ranger
• Monk
• Necromancer
• Mesmer
• Elementalist

If you have Guild Wars Factions, you can also choose from:

• Assassin
• Ritualist

And if you have Nightfall you can choose from the above as well as:

• Paragon
• Dervish

When you have chosen a class, you will also be able to choose the sex and this is not account-bound nor does it reflect your actual sex in real life. You can have some male characters and some female characters, regardless of which the account owner is.

There are also some basic choices during character creation that allow you to determine what your character will look like. You can choose features like face, hair style and color, skin color and clothing. This allows you to make your character your own and personalize as much as possible.

When starting out, you will be given four Guild Wars character slots to choose from your loading screen. If you have filled all four of your slots and still want to make another character, you can purchase additional slots from the Guild Wars store, accessible from your log in screen. Remember also that at any time you can delete Guild Wars characters that you are not using or not planning to play anymore.

You might decide to make a character and try it out but then discover that you don’t really like it and you want to delete it and make something else. This is part of the fun and freedom that comes with playing an MMORPG like Guild Wars. You are not locked into one character or one role. You can try different things and be anyone you want to be inside the game world.
