Movie Watch: Repo Men

“You’re Repo – they’ll come for you too”

Surprisingly, not another movie remake (read re-imagination) this year is Repo Men, scheduled for release in April 2010. Speculation was rife that this was a remake of the 1984 popular cult hit Emilio Estevez vehicle (geddit!?) which dealt with shady people who repossess cars (but don’t look in the boot).

However, this 2010 movie features Jude Law, Liev Schreiber and Forrest Whittaker in one of those “in the near future” movies – but in this story artificial organs can be bought on credit – but you better be able to keep up the repayments! Life goes pretty swimmingly for the Repo Men until one of them has an accident and receives an artificial organ.

This movie sees Jude Law stepping up into blockbuster action roles following his recent stint in the Sherlock Holmes re-imagination – it’s also great to see Liev Schreiber in another big movie role – it’s about time he got to helm his own big movie – in our opinion!

Watching the trailer the film has whiffs of other movies including Paycheck, Minority Report, Wanted, Blade Runner and Equilibrium so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
