Short of storage on your USB thumb drive? How about 256 GB ?
Looking through the Kingston UK website today I almost did a double take when I saw the press release for their latest thumb drive, the DT300, measuring in at a staggering 256GB. Not bad for a USB flash drive you might think – if it was April 1st I would dismiss it as a gag but nope – this is July 20th and it is no joke.

To give you some idea of the amount of storage on this new 2.78” x 0.67” x 0.87” flash based drive – Kingston have this to say:
“Users can now carry 51,000 images, 54 DVDs or 365 CDs on one mobile device”
Specification information you might find useful about the built-to-order Data Traveler 300 include:
- Sleek cap-less design (so there are no loose bits to get lost)
- Enhanced for Windows Readyboost (Password Traveler won’t operate with Readyboost)
- Includes a five-year warranty and 24/7 technical support
- Data transfer rates up to 20 MB/sec for reading and 10 MB/sec for writing
- File transfer compatible with Vista (SP1) , XP (SP1,SP2,SP3), Windows 2000 (SP4), Mac OS X (v10.3x+), and Linux (v2.6.x+)
- Password Traveler security software included

Vendor pricing is not yet available for the DT3600/256GB but PC Advisor are indicating it could cost around £665 whilst Engadget are reporting it could cost around £565.
