Social Media And Keywords
One of the prime reasons for people to use social media sites nowadays is to enhance their profile online. If you type the name of some well known internet marketers into Google, you will probably find social media profiles for some of them as well as other more general results. Being found on this type of site is very easy, and the more you join the more people you will tend to be found by.
But of course it doesn’t just matter which sites you use. How you use them matters just as much. Regardless of whether you use social bookmarking sites or social networking sites or anything else similar, you want to be sure you can be found by as many people as possible. And that means putting yourself in their shoes before you comment on a link, post a comment or even send a tweet on Twitter.
Think about how you use these same sites to find people that you are interested in. You search for things that cover your interests – and you do that with the help of keywords. You might not even realise this is what you are doing, but it is. You can see that you can get great results from this – and if you think that other people are out there doing the exact same thing to try and find you, you will see how important keywords really are.
The key is to try and come up with a shortlist of relevant words that you should be using to find the people you want to connect with. If you already have a website or blog that you use Google Analytics with, you will be way ahead on this step. You will be able to check the words that bring you the most visitors and then you can work those into your comments, tweets and blog posts and so on.
Obviously you don’t want to focus on keywords to the exclusion of all else. You want to give good value and good quality above all else. But always keep your keywords in the back of your mind as well. If you can get the balance right you will see good results – even outstanding results – over time. More people will find and follow you, and take an interest in what you are doing.
But it is those keywords that bring you that extra level of success. If you aren’t taking notice of them now, you might be surprised (and pleased) by the difference they can make.
