The general idea of Mahjong (the single player Mahjong Solitaire is commonly meant when talking about Mahjong) is to match pairs of tiles – however you can only match them if they have at least one side (left or right) free. Selecting pairs of tiles makes them disappear from the game board thus revealing more potential pairs of available matching tiles. Skill is required to match the right pair at the right time ensuring you do not block all the available pairs – quite often a particular tile will be surrounded by other tiles so you will need to use all your brain power to figure out how to reach it.

This particular game has a in interesting challenge encouraging you to attempt the many different layouts of game boards. A lay out is simply a way of arranging the tiles on the game board in interesting and challenging ways – in traditional Mahjong there are a number of well known arrangements such as the Ox or Snake variations.

In-Poculis cam be run in either 2D or 3D mode and it can be run its traditional time based challenge or points based where you earn extra points for particular combinations of tile pairs. In this way you can take the challenge of trying to beating a particular time for clearing a board arrangement or you can try and score highly using combination plays like four of a kind (two identical pairs) or straights. If you can no longer match a pair the game board automatically reshuffles the tiles.

Zimbra are promising to make email easy again – I wish someone would which is why I am downloading the product right now. I imagine many BT Yahoo! customers will feel right at home with Zimbra as it bears more than a passing similarity to the email service.

Free to download versions are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can even join the beta testing network to receive regular updates of Zimbra Desktop. Once downloaded installation is relatively painless with the handy installation wizard taking care of many of the decisions.

Once installation is completed the Zimbra Desktop appears where you can add a new account from a number of predefined account types including Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Microsoft Live Hotmail, AOL Mail, and handily Microsoft Exchange IMAP. For this test I setup a Yahoo! Mail account and it was pretty simple to do.

Once one account is setup you can add additional mail services. Once you have your accounts setup you can launch the Zimbra Desktop.

Tabs are available for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tools, Documents, and Briefcase which offers some indication of where Zimbra is heading. Under the Email section emails are listed in a typical format with Sender, Subject, Size and Receive Date – Emails can also be placed into Folders – making them easier to manage. Emails can also be tagged with keywords to aid later searching.

An interesting feature is the Zimlets which can be added to extend the flexibility of Zimbra, at resent Yahoo! Maps and Flickr are built-in but we guess there are many more applets/widgets/Zimlets on the horizon.
