Tips For Success Playing Dolphin Cup
Dolphin Cup, previously known as Dolphin Olympics 2, is a fun game but if you haven’t managed to jump out of the water very far you are missing quite a bit of fun to bad had in the game – especially with the little nod to Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. To get this far however, you need to work out how to build up speed but also maintain speed, these are some of the tips in this article. You can play Dolphin Cup in the games section.

The aim of Dolphin Cup is to “Score as many points as possible in 2 minutes by swimming and flipping your dolphin. Successful jumps build speed, allowing for bigger and better tricks! Use the arrow keys or WASD keys to move. Advanced instructions are available in the game.”
To get started you need to build up speed – move horizontally across the surface of the water to start, this will build up your speed, then start with a few small jumps near the surface of the water (aim for “nice entry” messages) and add cork screws to these (hold the down key whilst in the air). The key to scoring big is to keep your combos going, so make for good landings when you leave the water – a bad landing will reset your combo.
Try jumping out of the water, performing a corkscrew (hold down – but wait till you are out of the water otherwise you will enter a tailspin), then turn around and land back in the water safely, do this a few times and when you jump out the water far enough you will get the fireworks and the cheer. Next, try and perform a few spins and reversals ensuring you always leave plenty of room to land safely – avoid those belly flops.
Once you get the hang of it start watching out for the angles you are leaving the water and re-entering at, going straight up and down works for a while but build up too much speed and you will bang your nose on the bottom of the seabed.
Once you get the basics down you will soon be up into space and flying past the moon, but keep those combos coming and always leave plenty of time to get in position for a good landing. When landing in the water you need to find the right moment to spin and head back out – in order to maintain momentum for your dolphin.
Other Tips
Tailslide – when approaching the surface, just as you break out of the water press and hold the down arrow key. You will need to practice the tailslide as many points can be gathered this way. To exit the tailslide press the down key again.
Carnival – to get the carnival you need to continuously flip from when you leave the water to when you re-enter the water – tricky to do. You can use the corkscrew to slow down your turn when going for a Carnival.
Schools – gather up other fish to jump out the water with you – you will get school merits this way, get 8 fish to jump with you to get the Schools Out merit.
Star Trails – Watch out for the star trails to give you speed boosts – just swim or fly through them
Rewinds – a full turn one way followed by a full turn the other way. You need some height for a rewind.
Star lines – If you see a line of stars press and hold the down key to perform a star slide
Tricks – From Corkscrews to Carnivals, Wraparounds and Rewinds, make sure you fit in as many tricks as possible to get the multipliers and boost your score.
If you manage to go really high up into space you may find the space restaurant (at the end of the universe?) apparently it is somewhere around 2,000 metres.
So there you go, more tips will be added as we find them. Head on over to play Dolphin Cup for yourself.
