Tips On Playing Bloons Tower Defence 3

Some time ago we heard about Bloons Tower Defence as being a curiously addictive online game and since that time I have been playing like crazy the latest incarnation which is Bloons Tower Defence 3 which adds a number of additional features.

Bloons Tower Defence 3

The third outing takes the game up a level by adding eight levels each with three difficulty levels. Added to this are a greater array of weapons – each with two track upgrades.

Game play is pretty simple – pop the oncoming balloons before they reach the end of the track – but its this simplicity that makes the game really challenging. I have been playing through the levels on the hard setting and have cracked all but the last level which is proving to be a bit of a humdinger. Many of the levels require a certain type of game play so it helps to adapt your playing style to deal with multiple track courses and cross roads. On the hard level you have to survive fifty gruelling rounds as the relentless bloons test your metal and your organisational skills to the limit.

The bloons start out as slow moving reds but quickly move up to blue which when popped turn into red, then green, then fast moving yellows then white (immune to freezing) and black (immune to bombs) bloons and rainbows to brown balloons. For the last level which is a multi-lane level you only get fifty lives (the number of bloons that are allowed to escape) and you have limited funds – I often start off with two monkeys positioned for maximum impact. I let these do the work and take a few hits early on until I can afford a tack shooter which quickly gets upgraded to a longer range and faster shooting. It is worth letting a few bloons escape early on to save money for upgrades and new weapons.

A second tack shooter often follows but I have to conserve enough money for a Cannon or Boomerang to deal with the tricky lead balloons. Early on if there isn’t enough money I have to resort to the Pineapple though this needs some co-ordination.

You have to be extra careful how you spend your money on the hard levels and it pays to buy and sell defences to make sure you have the right ones when you need them. Remember too that things like road spikes cost a lot more than the money you get back from them so use with care – when starting out I would often jump for the road spike to deal with a problem bloon run but something like the Monkey Glue can have a much better effect if implemented correctly.

Also, I had a habit of putting most of my defences early on in the run, you will soon see the error in doing this when you face your first M.O.A.B and even the white bloons can travel fast enough to bypass early defences. The closes I have got so far as Round 47 – so close and yet so far. Have you finished it yet?

Here are the tips so far:

  • Don’t waste money on road tacks – use carefully placed Monkey Glue instead
  • Don’t place all your defences at the start of the bloon run
  • Make sure you have some funds available for emergency situations
  • Remember to sell weapons to upgrade to better weapons
  • Don’t waste money eliminating straggling escapees early on – take a few hits and spend the money on your weapons instead
  • Place your weapons to ensure they have maximum positioning for the roads
  • Use Ice Balls with upgrades to slow down bloons
  • Get the Tower Defence Upgrade as quickly as you can to increase the range and firing speed of all the weapons

Once you have mastered Bloons Tower Defence 3 you can start preparing for Bloons Tower Defence 4.

i start with cannons and work my way up so i can like pass lvl 56 with only like 5-8 defenses anyway im making this a long comment so umm on track 1 (always fully upgrade) start with one cannon get another, the a freezer between both the cannons, then a super monkey in the middle of the map (estimated lvl 27) then i forgot the rest but that will get u up to the moab. the last thing is a btd3 glitch if you have a tower and you need to place it excactly in the middle of the track first hover it ove an area where the range circle is white, then you right click, move the cursor to where you want the defense and left click there. hope you enjoyed this use the glitch often, use my advise on TRACK 1!!! but most of all comment on your tips and strategys for any btd.

Or any other random game but idealy a btd :) :) :) :) Happy gaming!!!

i figured out that whilst you’re on a tower waiting for the upgrade, that tower lowers is fire rate for all the time you’re ton the tower.

  4. [...] In Bloons Tower Defense 3 your job is to prevent the oncoming Bloons from reaching the end of the track by careful planning, quick wits and an awful lot of practice. beat btd1 with all lives left, beat btd2 with all lives left on all 3 maps, beat btd3 on every track on hard with all lives left and because of this, i can tell you how to do it! all you need to do is ask and i will tell you, but try to figure it out for yourselves first.

btw, my freeplay record is level 86, but after 86 it was late at night so i had to stop after 86. if you want to get that far then the best track is track 2 with no supermonkeys.
