World of Warcraft Mods
World of Warcraft developers have tried very hard over the years to put the most popular mods into their basic UI (user interface). Not all mods are given the chance to make it into the basic system and it is left to the individual player to get them on their own. The good news is that this is easier than ever before to do because there are many mod sites available to help you.
One of the most popular WoW mod sites out there is Curse Gaming. They have a complete list of gaming mods, made by players, for World of Warcraft. They have divided them into different sections to make things easier to find. Some examples are:
- Class
- Maps
- Bars
- UI’s
There are a lot of mods that come as a single package. Some mods can be downloaded to just affect how your combat bars are set up. Others will give you a package deal that offers you multiple mods in one. Packages are especially useful for people who don’t really know what they want in their mods. Players that know exactly what they’re looking for can easily search for the name of the mod they want.
Players can download these mods and install them into their C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns. This will give you the option to turn them on when you log into your game account. From the character select screen look in the lower left corner of your screen. You will see a button called AddOns. From this menu you can enable the addons you just downloaded.
Sometimes you will get the message “Out of Date” under the addons list. If this is the case simply check the box at the top of the window that says “Load Out of Date AddOns”. This will force World of Warcraft to load the mod even if it’s not up to date. Be warned that this can cause your game to have unexpected errors.
The more familiar you become with World of Warcraft mods, the more comfortable you will be with using them. You will discover there are many ways to completely customize your UI and your game experience to make simple tasks easier to do. This lets you enjoy more of what you really love- the game itself.
